22 Re Knock Sensor Location. IAB is below the iat on the black box under the intake manifold. Oil pressure and knock sensor location and operation. i went to my local pick and pull today to get the rest of my r - re swap parts and the motor didnt have a knock sensor or wiring for it. i pulled the entire ecu harness and ecu out myself along with the afm, coil, and distributor. there is nothing left but. knock sensor is in the middle below the intake mani and above the filter.
If you wanted to use that location (I don't recall what that was originally intended for), I would leave it as a blind hole.
I would check your knock limit map as well, to ensure that it is not clamping the applied value, though I think you hope it will.

The knock sensor identifies the high-frequency engine vibrations characteristic of knocking and transmits a signal to the ECU.
